Reddit Video Downloader
Reddit stores video and sound separately and plays them together in the app. Here they are merged back into one MP4 you can keep.
Videos, GIFs and images
- One MP4 with sound. Reddit's separate audio track is muxed back in, so the file plays anywhere.
- Image posts as JPG or PNG at the size Reddit serves.
- Audio only as MP3.
How to save a Reddit video
- Open the post and copy its permalink —
reddit.com/r/sub/comments/…. - Paste it above and press Grab.
- Save the video entry. The merge happens on the server, so the file you get already has sound.
Why the file may be smaller than you expect
Reddit re-encodes uploads and usually offers a single resolution per post, often 720p or lower. What you get is the file Reddit serves, not the original the uploader had.
What does not work
- Private and quarantined subreddits. They need a session.
- Posts that link out to YouTube or another host are handled by that host's rules, not Reddit's.
- Deleted posts. Nothing left to fetch.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Reddit video have sound?
Yes. Reddit keeps the audio in a separate stream and plays the two together; here they are merged into one MP4 before the file is handed over.
Does it work with old.reddit.com links?
Yes, a permalink from either interface points at the same post.
Can I download an image post?
Yes. A single image is saved as JPG or PNG; a gallery exposes its items one by one.
